Lua Project with Erik Red Knierim

  • Rapunzel's Coffee and Books 924 Front Street Lovingston, VA, 22949 United States (map)

Lua Project writes and plays Mexilachian music, combining different elements from Latin American and Appalachian cultures. Their songs are also inspired by Jewish and Eastern European tonalities, Baroque melodic ideas, and Scotch-Irish storytelling. As cultural pollinators, Lua Project is bridging together musical styles from different continents and different centuries. They strive to create a repertoire of new traditional music that will be shared with their children and communities to experience, transform, and continue exploring together.

Opening for us this evening will be a special solo set from Erik "Red" Knierim. As frontman for the Central Virginia based group, Red and the Romantics, Red is known for his unforgettable original songs and the sparks of joy he brings both on and off the stage. Local photographer Rich Tarbell describes Red perfectly - “Besides always being impeccably well-dressed on stage, Erik Red Knierim is one of the nicest, most authentic, and genuine humans I have ever met. Long live Red and the Romantics!”
